Object III · clause 3(c)

Dharma, in public

From the Deed of Trust, registered 3 October 1968

To propagate religious and its basic ideals amongst the general public.
Clause 3(c)

What it asks for

Not to keep it inside the walls.

The typist dropped a word here — the registered Deed reads “to propagate religious and its basic ideals”, where it plainly means religion. We have left it as it stands. It is the shortest of the five objects and the most demanding: the other four describe things done on the estate, and this one sends the Trust outward, amongst the general public.

In practice it is the annual katha, the festivals kept on the grounds, and the religious functions the town holds here. It is also this website. The Gita’s teachings, set out plainly in Hindi and English for anyone who goes looking, are the same object carried out by other means.

On the ground

As it stands today.
