Why Hansi Gita Bhawan exists |

To carry the eternal wisdom of Shrimad Bhagavad Gita from one generation to the next — with a special responsibility towards young people, families and the wider community.

What the Deed binds us to|विलेख के पाँच उद्देश्य

Five objects, set down in 1968 and still running.

Clause 3 of the registered Trust Deed names five things and binds the Trust to them. Nothing the Trust does, and nothing a gift pays for, falls outside these five.

  1. WorshipKeep the worship going, and do not let it stop.3(a)
  2. Prayer and recitationThe buildings exist to be used, and the Deed says what for.3(b)
  3. Dharma, in publicNot to keep it inside the walls.3(c)
  4. Care for the learnedA room and a meal for visiting devotees and families, and for pandits and sadhus too.3(d)
  5. KnowledgeLibraries and study rooms — and whatever else works.3(e)

The Gita, in full|

The conversation that became the Gita.

Two men on a chariot between two armies. Seven hundred verses. The whole of it is on this website, free to read.

All seven hundred verses, published here.

Eighteen chapters, in Sanskrit with transliteration, and in Hindi and English side by side. Every verse was transcribed from published texts and checked against a second source before it was put on this page; where the sources disagreed, a third settled it.

Your right is to the action alone, never to its fruits. Do not let the fruit be your reason for acting, and do not be attached to inaction either.

Trustee Dharma|

Custodians, not owners.

An institution built to endure for a century and beyond cannot depend upon the character of its founders alone. Its Dharma must outlast them. Those entrusted with Hansi Gita Bhawan hold it in trust for generations they will never meet.

The question we ask ourselves

Are we helping people understand and live the Gita — and through it move closer to Shri Krishna?

No individual, family, donor, trustee or generation shall become greater than the purpose of Hansi Gita Bhawan.
