What Hansi Gita Bhawan is.
Hansi Gita Bhawan is a Hindu religious and spiritual trust rooted in devotion to Shri Krishna and guided by the wisdom of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita. It is a place of worship, learning, reflection, character formation and Seva.
Who we are
A place of worship, learning, reflection, character formation and Seva.
Its purpose is larger than preserving a building or conducting religious occasions. HGB exists to carry the Gita’s living wisdom across generations, with a special responsibility towards young people, families and the wider community.
हांसी गीता भवन उपासना, अध्ययन, संस्कार, आत्मचिंतन और सेवा का केंद्र है। हमारा दायित्व केवल परंपरा की रक्षा करना नहीं, बल्कि उसके प्रकाश को आने वाली पीढ़ियों के जीवन तक पहुँचाना है।
The Trust was founded by Shri K.L. Garg — Shri Kanhaiya Lal Garg, son of Lala Jugal Kishore — with his wife Smt. Shanta Garg. From around 1952 they held this land in Hansi for one purpose: a place of worship and charity for the town. In 1968 they registered the Trust so the purpose could never be changed. It is led today by Shri Nikhilessh Garg, the fourth generation of the family to hold it in custody.

To make the Gita understandable, practicable and transformative — so that knowledge becomes discernment, devotion shapes character and personal growth becomes service.

Objects of the Trust Deed, 1968
Five objects, unchanged since the founding.
Every activity on the campus answers to one of these. Anything that does not, we do not do.
- Worship
To arrange for, and continue without interruption, the worship of Bhagwan Shri Krishna and Maa Saraswati installed in the temple on the Trust estate.
- Prayer and recitation
To use the Bhawan for prayers, bhajans and religious performances — the recitation of the Gita, the Chandi, the Ramayana and the Mahabharata — and for religious festivals.
- Spreading dharma
To propagate religion and its basic ideals among the general public.
- Care for the learned and the renounced
To look after and assist learned Pandits, Sadhus and mendicants, and to provide them temporary accommodation and maintenance.
- Knowledge and education
To establish libraries and study rooms, and to arrange lectures, demonstrations and other means for the propagation of knowledge and education.
The Deed also binds us in three practical ways: the Trust’s work is carried out only within India; true and accurate accounts are kept and audited every year; and the Board has never fewer than four and never more than six trustees.
Leadership
Custodians, not owners.
A merchant of Calcutta whose family came from Hansi. He put his own means and effort into the land and its first buildings, and insisted on a registered Deed so that the Trust would belong to its purpose rather than to any person.
Wife of the founder and a signatory to the 1968 Deed; the Deed names her, with him, as able to nominate successor trustees.
Presides over the Board of Trustees. Decisions are taken in duly convened meetings; the Chairman holds the casting vote.

The Deed provides for never fewer than four and never more than six trustees. Decisions are taken in duly convened meetings, the Chairman holding the casting vote; accounts are kept accurately and audited every year; and the Trust’s work is carried out only within India.
Trustee dharma
A covenant beyond the founders.
A hundred-year institution cannot depend upon the character of its founders alone. Its Dharma must survive them. Those entrusted with HGB must remember: we do not own this institution; we hold it in trust for generations we will never meet.

No individual, family, donor, trustee or generation shall become greater than the purpose of Hansi Gita Bhawan.
कोई व्यक्ति, परिवार, दाता, न्यासी या पीढ़ी हांसी गीता भवन के उद्देश्य से कभी बड़ी नहीं होगी।
Our 100-year sankalp
Our methods will evolve. Our foundation will endure.
We cannot predict the world one hundred years from today. But while human beings struggle between fear and courage, desire and restraint, anger and forgiveness, ego and humility, attachment and wisdom, confusion and Dharma, the dialogue between Shri Krishna and Arjuna will remain alive.
Our methods will evolve. Our foundation will endure. We shall preserve the Gita without confining it to the past; welcome sincere questions without weakening shraddha; and transform knowledge into character, Bhakti into compassion, and success into responsibility.
यत्र योगेश्वरः कृष्णो यत्र पार्थो धनुर्धरः।
तत्र श्रीर्विजयो भूतिर्ध्रुवा नीतिर्मतिर्मम॥
Where there is Shri Krishna, Lord of Yoga, and Arjuna, the wielder of the bow, there abide prosperity, victory, flourishing and steadfast right conduct — such is my conviction.
