Chapter 12 · The yoga of devotion
Bhagavad Gita 12.8
Fix your mind on Me.
Shri Bhagavan
मय्येव मन आधत्स्व मयि बुद्धिं निवेशय ।
निवसिष्यसि मय्येव अत ऊर्ध्वं न संशयः ॥
mayyeva mana ādhatsva mayi buddhiṁ niveśaya / nivasiṣyasi mayyeva ata ūrdhvaṁ na saṁśayaḥ
Fix your mind on me alone and let your understanding rest in me. From then on you will live in me — of this there is no doubt.
हिंदी · अपना मन मुझमें ही लगाओ और अपनी बुद्धि को मुझमें स्थिर करो। इसके बाद तुम मुझमें ही निवास करोगे, इसमें कोई संशय नहीं।
What it means
Fix your mind on Me.
Place your mind in Me alone, and your understanding in Me; then you will live in Me from now on. Of this there is no doubt.

Verses that share its vocabulary
Near it in the text’s own words.
- 2.39This understanding I have given you is that of Sankhya. Now hear it as yoga. Partha, with this understanding you will cast off the bondage of action.
- 2.41Joy of the Kurus, in this the understanding is single and settled. The understanding of those who will not settle branches endlessly.
- 2.44For those attached to pleasure and power, whose minds are carried away by such talk, the understanding does not settle in stillness.
- 2.49Dhananjaya, action done for its reward is far inferior to action done with this understanding. Take refuge in understanding. Those who work for the fruit are to be pitied.
- 2.50One joined to this understanding leaves behind both good deeds and bad, here in this life. So take up yoga. Yoga is skill in action.
- 2.51The wise, joined to this understanding, give up the fruit born of action, and freed from the bondage of birth they reach the place where there is no affliction.
